Xpriori and Excell Consulting International Announce Strategic Collaboration
Highly automated processes remove logistical problems of large document cases and minimize manual review
DENVER, Colorado – March 26, 2013. Xpriori LLC and Excell Consulting International LLC announce a strategic relationship for collaboration on government contract and construction contract claims under which Xpriori provides technical and review support to Excell’s robust and expanding practice.
Since 1983, Excell has been a leading consultant on claims and contractual matters to such companies as Arctic Slope Regional Corporation, Bechtel, Fluor, Turner, Linpro, Granite, ITT, Northrop Grumman, Johnson Controls, California Department of Corrections, ICF International, American Water Works, R&O Construction, Entek Inc, Fidelity & Deposit Surety, HB Zachry, IRS Inc., Kitchell, PA&E Inc., Pettit & Martin, Marnell Corrao & Associates, West Electronics, Wimpey Minerals, Willis Corron, and others.
Excell’s practice requires substantial commitment to review of content contained in documents and other data files commonly referred to as unstructured information. Unstructured data (or unstructured information) refers to information that either does not have a pre-defined data model and/or does not fit well into relational tables. Unstructured information is typically text-heavy, but may contain dates, numbers and machine data as well. This results in irregularities and ambiguities that make it difficult to understand using traditional computer programs as compared to data stored in fielded form in databases or annotated (semantically tagged) in documents.
The amount of unstructured data has grown exponentially in the last 10 years with the growing use of email and other forms of electronically created and stored information. As a result, the costs of E-Discovery and expense associated with it have risen exponentially as well. Consequently, enterprises and governmental institutions have had to make substantial commitments to new technologies to control those costs while maintaining the quality of content review. It has been a substantial challenge for all.
Xpriori is a leader in creating and supplying advanced classification, information extraction and E-Discovery technologies to effectively deal with the glut of unstructured information. Its product offerings include proprietary products such as FirstCull™, Xpriori Collector™, XCM, and OrcaTec’s Document Decisioning Suite™ and, most recently, BeyondRecognition™ — that will automatically classify literally millions of documents based upon their visual similarity and conveniently extract information from them for use in other enterprise applications.
John Balch, CEO of Excell, states: “We have relied upon Xpriori for many years to provide the best of breed technological support to help us organize and review the myriad of documents presented to us in evaluating and processing claims. Xpriori helps us reduce time and keep costs in line for our clients. What 30 years ago was measured in weeks and months to review and organize, with Xpriori now takes at most days or hours. We are pleased to select and offer Xpriori’s products and services and team with Xpriori as part of our regular practice.”
Tim Dix, CEO of Xpriori, states: “We have been pleased to associate with John Balch and support Excell’s consulting practice over the years. We are even more pleased to expand our collaboration and support of Excell with a variety of products and hosted services. Our BeyondRecognition™ product enables the Excell team to take on projects of extraordinary size and complexity without significant expansion of its labor force. Our highly automated processes remove the logistical problems of large document cases and help minimize the number of documents requiring manual review.”
One of the companies’ first joint activities will be mutual participation in the upcoming “Marketview 2013” conference of the Professional Service Council to be held at Saddlebrook, near Tampa, FL, April 7-9, 2013. The Xpriori-Excell strategic relationship is already at work in resolving a number of complex claims.
